5K Volunteer and a Beach Run

Miles today: 6.31 miles, 57:40 min
Miles in 2013: 124.21 miles

It was a little bit of a hilly morning. I changed the alarm on my phone to something less abrasive, and completely slept through it. So much for walking up in a calm, peaceful fashion. I guess the only way to get me up at 5:15 AM a loud, obnoxious alarm that makes me want to smash my phone into 1000 pieces before I have even gotten out of bed. Good times.

Anyway, I planned on running 6 miles early before I volunteered at the Naples Equestrian Challenge 5K at 7:30. Oops. Still, I got there on time, and was on hand to clip off everyone's timing chips at the finish. Congrats to all the awesome finishers!

This was a small, local 5K that benefited the Naples Equestrian Challenge. It is a great local charity that uses therapeutic riding and horse-related activities to help children and adults with special needs.

A bunch of friends all placed and had a great time running. The BEST part of the race for me was someone (not my mom or close friends that are forced to read my ramblings) came up and said hi and that she read the blog. I almost fainted. MADE MY DAY. So thanks and hi Leigh!

I headed home to change and head out for my run. Thank God it is cool out because it was after 10 by the time I got out of the house.

I wore my Rock 'n' Roll Vegas Marathon shirt for inspiration. (not that you can tell with my crappy self photography - or do I really REALLY just need to clean the mirror???)

It was a gorgeous, cool run down to the Naples Pier and back. One of my favorite runs. (With a stop to walk the pier thrown in)

Hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday. I am going to attempt to do a little yard work, since it is nice out. I am guessing this is going to last about 30 minutes before I get bored and decide to do something better...
