5K Planning

Miles yesterday: 3.10 miles, 27:10 min
Miles in 2013: 219.24 miles

Since it is light out so late, I waited until after 7 PM to go for a run. That is the ONLY good thing about this time change. I was excited to go on this run because of two reasons.

#1: I just got a new pair of shoes. I needed another pair to rotate into the mix and luckily, Naples on the Run was having a 15% off sale for Gulf Coast Runners members. I ended up getting a second pair of Brooks.

Hey there, Brooks Ravenna 4s. (and why does it look like I have cankles? ) They are a little lighter than Adrenaline 12s and feel very cushiony. 3 miles isn't enough for me to make my opinion. I am planning on doing a speed/hill workout later this week and will have more of a opinion after that.

#2: I am helping plan Naples' inaugural women's only 5K benefitting Girls on the Run of Collier County. It will be on May 11th and I was the first one to run the course to double check the mileage. We are planning on a small, local race that will be a blast for everyone regardless of level.

The race will be called the Run Chick Run 5K. I have volunteered at tons of races and am so excited to help plan a race from the very start, to see exactly what goes into it. Right now we are focusing on getting the correct permits, designing the logo, and getting sponsors in line.

I think it is going to be a wonderful fundraiser and an event women can look forward to every year. If you are in SW Florida (and female), mark your calendars!

Now if we could get this guy to hand out medals, we will be all set...
