Run for the Paws 5K

Miles today: does work count?? rest day on the squat challenge
Miles in 2014: 86.27 miles

Saturday morning after my quick six miler, I headed over to the 8th Annual Run for the Paws, a 5K supporting the Humane Society of Naples and the only pet friendly race in Naples.
Sadly, Lucy and Bailey could not come hang out. Lucy is too young to run a 5K and Bailey has had two ACL repairs and is not 5K ready. They got plenty of fetch and treats at home later, don't worry.

Anyway, this is one of the most fun races of the year with a huge turn out. Over 750 runners, 180 dogs, and one cat showed up this year to brave the chilly temps and run.
I was a volunteer and did not run this year, but the course is beautiful, heading behind the Naples Airport, back through some of the small trails along the Gordon River.

Some puppies were fast and some preferred to walk, but all got bandannas to wear. How stinking cute is that?

There was also plenty of hydration for the pups (and cat)
This is a great race to run/walk for your first 5K or if you are pushing a kiddo. It has a wonderful family atmosphere and a relaxed feel. Not to mention you are helping out the Humane Society and lots of four legged animals that need it.
