Sunset Running

Miles today: 2.0 miles
Miles yesterday: 1.5 miles, treadmill, one hour strength training
Miles in 2014: 564.05 miles

For as long as I can remember, running at sunset or the end of the day has been one of my very favorite things to do. That is one of the things that has been hardest since getting knocked up. Exhaustion is obviously one of the biggest issues. Before I could push thru most exhaustion and power through a run or whatever the activity was. No more. It is just about next to impossible. And coming to terms with that was not the easiest thing for me to deal with.

The first trimester, I would sleep on average 2 hours directly after work. Sometimes I could fit in a workout after the nap, sometimes not.
I have a little more energy, but I still need my naps. Everyday is a little different and somedays I can get away without a nap. Today was not that day. I crashed for about an hour and a half before heading out to catch the sunset.
I was lucky enough to have Larry along for the (slow) run tonight. He was super patient, even despite my constant complaining. Weight training yesterday kicked my poor, leg muscles' asses. My good friend Christine has agreed to get me and my fave long running buddies in better shape with our strength training. She was a slave driver with the squats and pushups, but I pumped to get some more strength training into my schedule. And thus my legs are not happy with me today.
At 21 weeks, my runs are much shorter than I would like, but I am still running!  Between the heat and growing baby, I know my days of sunset runs are numbered for a short time, but I am enjoying every run I get, no matter the pace.
